History of New Jerusalem Ministries

New Jerusalem Ministries International was birthed through a God given vision presented to Dr. Veronica R. Coleman in 2001.  Dr. Coleman was led to establish a church based upon the Apostle John’s vision of the “Holy City” found in Revelation chapter 21. She was further led to establish this church in the Green Run Community of Virginia Beach VA.   On September 11, 2010, Dr. and Deacon Coleman met with 12 invited guests at the Kempsville Branch of the Virginia Beach Public Library.  At this meeting, the vision for her Ministry was presented and explained. These 12 were challenged to support in the realization of this vision.  All 12 accepted and thus New Jerusalem Ministries International was born.
Afterward the 12 met for weekly instruction and worship in each other’s homes. In November of 2010, through God’s leading, a place of worship was secured within Beth Chaverim Temple, located in the Green Run Community. The first Worship Service was held in December of the same year.  Initially, this was to be a “practice” service reserved for the founding twelve and a few friends.  However, God saw fit to give an increase and the congregants grew to a total of thirty-seven people.  The official launch service for NJM was held on Sunday, January 9, 2011. A blessed total of 292 persons gathered in worship on that day. Since that time New Jerusalem Ministries International has grown upwards to include 250 members. There are nine distinct ministries.  The Lord has allowed NJM to be a blessing to: The Ronald McDonald House, Norfolk boys and Girls Club, The Seton House, Green Run High School Boys Basketball Team, The Twin Canals Community, Green Run Elementary School, and others. In addition, we have initiated an annual Back To School project providing prayer, school supplies and fellowship to students in the Green Run community.

The goal of New Jerusalem Ministries International remains: To Make a Positive Impact in the Community through the Love of Jesus Christ.  It’s mission: to Gather, Grow and Go.

We Gather to celebrate, worship and praise our God; We Grow through the disciplined study and application of God’s word; We Go out into the world to share the love of Jesus Christ. We thank God for the vision given to our Pastor Dr. Coleman. We look forward to fulfilling God’s purpose as we move forward in His will.
